Upolstry shop in town?

Postby Scuba » March 8th, 2010, 9:38 am

I dropped the headliner out of the BMW this weekend in an attempt to replace the internally-mounted hatch/glass lift struts, and also noticed that the headliner's foam-backed fabric is starting to fall apart. So, why not get it recovered while it's out of the car?

I remember someone taking their interior parts to Bendt Brother's here in West Ashley, but has anyone else had any good luck with having their headliner done? I'll be taking the A, B, and C pillars also as the gray fabric on those pieces are showing age as well.

What's the typical cost to have this done?

Steve, my whole interior was done at bendt brothers. I don't think it would be too much at all, maybe $300ish or so.

Ryan, those guys were the first people I called, and they wanted $500 with the parts already removed.

$500 is way out of the ball park, so last night I started disassembling things and I'm going to start doing the work myself. I'll probably pick up some stuff from JoAnn fabrics as I hear they have headliner material. 1/8" or 3/16" foam backed material should work fairly well I hope.

Yeah, that seems pretty steep. They must be jacking up the price or something. Well I'm sure you can find a good DIY somewhere and do it just as well yourself.
